I think a big issue with the travelling to and from Iceland, is not the price of a flight, but the timing with the event.
Most packages (if going by the cheapest price, as listed on the fanfest site) set you to arrive thursday, the same day as the fanfest starts. If you add in a couple of hours to arrive in Keflavik, travel to Reykjavik, check in at the hotel and then find your way to the venue, you'll have missed most, if not all, of the scheduled stuff thursday. And the flight home will most likely be so early in the morning that people will miss the saturday party. Not all countries have the choice of simply flying 3 hours later.
Unless you choose, and can afford, to spend more money than listed on the site, the experience of a FanFest will be a lot less fun than if you take arrive a day earlier and can take a "late" sunday flight. But for those that have more than just a few hours of flight, it will end up ruining their entire sunday so they need to take monday off as well. It's something that really needs to be looked at. While CCP can probably not do much about the package Icelandair provides, you can at least adapt the schedule to not do anything but Meet&Greet thursday, just like it was in the beginning. But if it IS possible to change the package deal for next year, set the arrival for the day before the event starts. And calculate the prices on this site accordingly.
The price listed for a trip from Denmark, is 2860 DKR. The final price, not including the Fanfest pass, was 6260 DKR. This is arrival wednesday, bus to and from the airport and staying at the Hilton, 5 minutes walk from the venue, as opposed to the Loftleidur, 30 minutes walking. Yes, I paid for the luxury of the Hilton, but it sure beats a 30 minute walk every time I need to go back there, or the price of a taxi back and forth. And arriving that day earlier, makes me ready from the beginning of the Fanfest I have paid for. Not arriving and missing 20% of it (which I always do anyway, due to drinking, but that's just me).
TL;DR version
Adjust schedule or flight packages for next year... ---
